I then came home to work at Ava Drug Co. with my father and grandfather. I am married to Dorothy and we have three grown children and five grandchildren. Dorothy spent her lifetime in education and is a retired high school librarian. I was on the Ava R-1 school board for 12 years, I served as city councilman for 13 years and previously served as mayor from 2015-2019. I am proud to be mayor and we believe our main responsibility is to serve our residents and assist them in every way possible. Board of Aldermen

Stan Lovan

Ward: West

Biography:

I have been a resident of Ava for forty years. My wife Judy is a native of Ava and we have one son, Paxton and a grandson, Gus.  I retired from the Forestry Division of the Missouri Department of Conservation after thirty-one years.  During part of that time I served as a work team supervisor for Douglas and Ozark counties.  Part of my responsibilities included fire suppression, timber management and taking care of recreational areas.  I also helped organize and provided training for many of the rural fire departments in Douglas and Ozark counties.  After retirement I formed a company to do timber management and prescribed burning.

Community service has been a big part of my life.  I served on the Planning and Zoning Commission for the City of Ava for a number of years.  I also served two terms as a member of the Ava R-1 Board of Education.  I do volunteer work each Monday for the Ozark Food Harvest and am an active member of the Ava United Methodist Church.

Keith Jones

Ward: East

Biography:

Keith Jones is the East Ward Alderman for the City of Ava and has had that position since April 2014. Keith has been part of the Ava community for 28 years. He moved to Ava in 1986 when he received his first assignment with the Missouri State Highway Patrol as a new Trooper. The last 17 years of his Patrol career he served as Supervisor or Zone Sergeant for Zone 5, which covers Douglas and Ozark counties. Keith retired from the Highway Patrol in August 2013. Keith says the Ava community has been good to him and his family and he has developed many good friendships over the years.

Keith enjoys working on his “hobby farm” where he raises Angus cattle and keeps his horses. When he is not working on the farm he enjoys hiking, bicycling, and dancing with his wife, Sue Curry Jones.

Keith and Sue currently reside in Ava, with their dog Reuben. Keith feels he has learned a lot from the Board of Aldermen, and the current City Administration and enjoys serving as an East Ward Alderman.
